Team Subscriptions help to ensure we can provide League football for the children playing for Layer Colts YFC. We have listened to the Parents and Guardians of our Players who asked for a better way of collecting the subscriptions so we have responded by offering the option to pay by Standing Order payment with their Bank. ( N.B the Mandate runs from 1st September 2011 - 1st June 2012 ) 
We can still accept cheques/cash from those who prefer this method.

Layer Colts 4 Boadicea Dynamos 4
C&DYL C League Match report by Simon Boyton   

Layer’s penultimate League game saw the visit of Boadicea Dynamos. After a two week enforced break from football due to the weather, Layer started the game as if they hadn’t played for two months let alone two weeks.
Within two minutes Layer were behind, slack marking at a corner resulted in the opposition centre back raising unchallenged to head the ball into the net. To their credit Layer quickly woke up and within five minutes had equalised and got their noses in front with two goals from Jake Gilbert. The first, after an excellent trough ball from Charlie Farthing, was a bit fortunate in that his shot was straight at the goalkeeper who somehow dived over the ball and rolled into the net.
The second from a pin point corner from Dan Forbes was headed in powerfully giving the goalkeeper no chance.For the next thirty minutes Layer totally dominated the opposition and in places were playing some good football, although the finishing had a lot to be desired, although some last ditch tackles by the Boadicea defenders did stop at least a further three goals.
Boadicea rarely got in Layer’s half but when the ball was pumped forward, this was their only tactic, the Layer defenders struggled to clear the ball, not the best game for any of the Layer defenders. With a minute to go in the first half Layer failed to clear a cross and the Boadicea forward had time to turn in the box and despatch his shot into the roof of the net, Danny just not tall enough to get to.
The second half followed the same pattern as the first with Layer having the majority of the ball and chances but couldn’t find the net. Layer did take the lead again after ten minutes, Jake was fed a ball down the right hand side and his cross come shot deceived the keeper and found its way into the net. Layer then surrendered the lead , once gain poor defending leading to allow the opposition to score. With fifteen minutes to go Layer won a penalty, up stepped Jordan Alston who pulled his shot wide of the goal.
Five minutes later Layer regained the lead, Jake beating the goalkeeper at the near post. It looked like Layer had finally got the upper hand, then in the final minute Lewis Hubbard shot from the edge of the box, the goalkeeper was routed to the spot but the ball hit the inside of the post and rolled along the line giving the keeper the chance to gather it.
From the resulting kick out, the ball found a Boadicea player who held of Layer’s timid attempt to tackle him and drove towards the Layer goal. He was held up by the defence but the ball fell to another Boadicea player who shot, the ball hit the back of a Layer defender and flew over Danny, bounced onto the left hand post and found the back of the net. There was not enough time from the restart for Layer to mount another attack and the game finished 4 – 4.It was a very disappointing end to a game which Layer should have won, especially as I can only remember the opposition having four attempts at goal, but credit must go to Boadicea for defending resolutely. Had Layer finished some of the multitude of chances that they created then the outcome could have been a lot different but at least it wasn’t a loss.
Man of the match was Charlie Farthing who in the first half especially controlled the midfield and was always looking to feed the two strikers.

 Next week there is no League game but I have arranged a friendly at home, KO 2pm, against Stanway Rovers Blues of the A league. They are a very good team that like to pass the ball, it will be a good test for us.  

At the time of writing, we have not been allocated a game on the 4th March but will let you know at training if this has changed, if not a league game, I’ll try and arrange a friendly.
